A long time ago, in a galaxy far far away, I started out my life as a young Gremlin that had a knack for all things electronic…
If it had buttons, I was bound to take it apart and try to put it back together again. If it had a current running through it, I was bound to follow its path, and if after all that it still didn’t make sense, I’d break down and actually read the manual.
My room was a mess of gadgets and gears when I was growing up, with many of the things that my parents had bought me from our local Goblin Shack to try to appease my little green heart. There were circuit board kits with messes of wires to print letters and numbers on two digit LED displays, integrated circuits thrown together with long strands of metal to broadcast out to the stars (provided the stars were within broadcasting distance of a single 9 volt battery), and even magical radios that worked purely from the power of crystals and shiny pipes. It was a geeky gremlin’s dream, but it still felt like there was something missing from my life.
Then, when Grandpa Gremlin got his first computer, that missing piece became crystal clear. Lying my eyes on it, I knew that this was the future, and time would prove my instincts to be true.
Our society evolved, and as it did, I saw those that I had shared a lair with go on to jobs creating their mischief working for companies like AOL and Packard Bell. Quite a few of our best and brightest evil minds worked extremely hard to create Windows Vista. But I, on the other hand, became a bit of a rebellious one and decided that I didn’t want to spend my time destroying people’s lives with General Protection Faults and Stack Overflows. Instead, I wanted to work to right the deeds of my kin, and in that I had at last found my niche.
Early on in my pursuit, I started working at a small computer shop, building systems, repairing systems, and working as hard as I could to prevent the other gremlins from getting the best of them. This led on to working in technical support for an internet company, and from there it seemed a natural step to start running the backend for an entire IMP (Internet Monster Provider – for the uninitiated). I’ve been happily doing that job for a while now, but I do miss the days of of the one on one support that I had with people when I was working at the computer shop. So, it was with that in mind, that I decided to expand a little bit back into that realm, and that’s how GetGremlins was born.
With three simple rules, it’s managing to undo much of the things that other gremlins have done to try to make your life miserable:
- Instead of being charged unreasonable fees for repairs, you’ll get a flat rate with no surprises.
- Instead of being sold high priced computers when you don’t really need all the bells and whistles, you can buy refurbished machines at a price almost anyone can afford.
- Instead of being left in the dark about the whole process, you’ll get as much detail as you want about what you’re paying for.
If you think that your computer has Gremlins in it, you’re probably right. Hire me and I’ll be sure to Get them.
